Location. The contemporary Cooghen Hotel Restaurant is set 500 metres from fine sandy beaches in the seaside village of De Koog on the picturesque and wildlife rich island of Texel. It is 100 kilometres north of Amsterdam. Amsterdam Schipol Airport (AMS) is 100 kilometres away, an approximate driving time of 120 minutes.

Getting there. There is a railway station in the terminal's central hall, under Schipol Plaza. Trains go to Den Helder (80 minutes journey time) and from here ferries go to Texel every hour on the half hour. The boat ride takes approximately 20 minutes, and runs from 6.30 AM to 9 PM every hour on the hour. On Sundays and holidays the first ferry leaves one hour later during the summer and two hours later in winter. From the ferry dock, take a bus or taxi to De Koog, a journey of about 15 minutes. De Koog is compact and easily explored on foot or by bicycle. The island of Texel is particularly cycle friendly, being totally flat and threaded with cycle tracks.
Driving directions.From Amsterdam take the highway to 'Den Helder' following 'Zaandam' or 'Leeuwarden'. In Den Helder follow signs to the ferry ('Texel'). then follow the signs to De Koog. In De Koog turn right, pass a Texaco petrol station, and turn left on to 'Nikadel'. Continue and cross Dorpsstraat shopping street on the left, and cross over on to the 'Badweg'. On the left is a red and white barrier shows the hotel parking lot.
